Hiii…..How are you guys feeling? …… “Pretty good”, “great” or may be “alright” would be the answer. Right? All right, now tell me one more thing, is your answer without any pressure or worry? Be honest and say it loud. Nothing harms if anyone says “I don’t know” or “I am not feeling well” or “I am stressed and irritated” as well. This can happen with anyone anytime. In this case, my thinking is that we always bear some pressure or burden on ourselves. Sometimes it has been given to you and sometimes it’s just your random thoughts that’s make you feel that way. So today, I will tell you how you can get rid of those haunting thoughts, stress, depression or anxiety.
In our daily life, we experience different types of stress, often resulting in depression, frustration and anxiety…… a companion without any hesitation. Everybody feels stressed in different ways. Hence, symptoms are dissimilar as well; say headache, back pain, irritable bowel syndrome, short temper and many more. It slow poisons our lives over the years. We have to deal with it whether want it or not. There is no way to escape from it. The word “stress” is stress in itself. It impacts our health, skin, lifestyle and most importantly, our own happiness. Sometimes, we think it is not in our hand. But apparently that is not true. We all are the masters of our own selves. By using separate methods we can handle it.
As an engineering student, I have witnessed so many dreadful things due to stress. If I am not living in the hostel I wouldn’t experience such outrageous things so closely. Students get addicted to drugs, alcohols or committed suicide. They forget their aim and step ahead towards bad things.
Actually there is no medicine for controlling stress. All you have to do is restrain yourself by understanding the inner you. It is not that easy as it sounds. Calmness, composition, being patient in a critical situation is really tuff. If you think I am wrong then just ask yourself a question “What am I, what do I want from my life”? Tell me whether you really know this answer. If the answer is known to you then you have a very good control over your mind otherwise you have to take:
Yoga: In our country, Yoga dates back to pre-Vedic Indian traditions about 5000 years ago. The word Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word “Yuj” which means union or integration. Here, the union or integration means it leads you to your own self and then to the Almighty. Yoga is all about postures, pranayama and meditation. There are various types of Yoga that can help you to become the best version of you. It not only helps us to increase our fitness or feel good within our bodies but also helps us to reach the spiritual levels. Practicing Yoga helps us building good habits such as discipline, self-control, self-enquiry etc. It has both physical and mental benefits.
Mental benefits: When it comes to mental fitness, the effect of Yoga is indispensable. Meditation is an integral part of Yoga. If your mind is well trained, you can save yourself from stress. Mother Nature always soothes our mind and give you inner peace. Though sometimes it is not possible to get close to nature then by doing meditation you can feel that calmness within you. It helps you to stable yourself and flatters your energy. Thus, there is no room for anxieties.
Physical Benefits: whenever you start performing yoga, you feel your body under initial aches. At that point, do not leave the practice. Otherwise it becomes a little frustrating to start all over again. Somehow if you can bear that pain for a couple of days then nothing like it. After that, the next challenging part is continuity. Starting of a new thing is easier than maintaining its continuity. Overcoming these difficulties allow you to fix your imbalances and improve the overall fitness of your body. It helps to gain strength, coordination, flexibility, balance, mobility, improves reaction times, speed and also lose weight. With the breathing exercises, the heart rate becomes lower and shift the balance of your nervous system into a more relaxed state. As a result, one can get better sleep, reduce stress increased focus and lung functions.
Walking and Jogging: Walking is also one type of meditation; meditation in motion. People sometimes find difficulties in doing Yoga or workout. In that case, mindful walking is the best solution for developing strength, speed and immunity. It also helps to tune your body, relieve stress and boost your mind to do productive things. If you make a habit of jog in early morning, see the glimpse of pleasant nature your own way. I assure you that, next day again you will go for sure to stop by the boons.
Sometimes just roaming also helps you to free yourself from stress. When I feel heavy for some reason, I roam for a while or sit at some quite place and listen to some countryside rock. It soothes my mood. You can try this. Just remember, don’t go too far.
Listening something and relaxing: While listening to music, podcast can be useful as a stress buster. Music works for anyone, anywhere. Music therapy is used as a stress reliever by medical practitioners throughout the globe. Listening music via headphones can relief stress and also cut out unwanted noises. As music has a unique connection with us, it works really fast and well. When you are getting ready for your work in the morning or while cleaning the room or when you come back from your work, would perceive it.
If I am down, I just increase the volume and be all ears on it. It pacifies me to the fullest.
Writing: Writing is nothing but expressing your thoughts via words. Suppression of your feelings harm you as well as your health. If you don’t want to share your feelings then write it down. In this way the storm inside you flare up.
“Early to bed and early to rise”: the practice of adopting a night time routine is way more difficult for me…… seems like an owl. If you are more productive at night than daytime then staying up is tickety-boo. But if you are wide awake for scrolling the social media or watching a T.V. series then you deplete your time. However I found most of the successful people are more productive early in the morning. Waking up early helps you in so many ways. You can take the fresh air and see the beauty of the nature. It just lifts up your mood, oblige you productive all day long. I, myself put a lot of efforts for waking up early.
In this case follow three simple things-
- Keep side your phone approximately 30 minutes before going to bed
- Take shower or drink milk
- Use Lavender oil, its fragrance will relax you
Make some good friends: Friends always lay an important role in our life. They know your good, bad, flaws…… practically everything. From cheering up to scolding and consoling they are your biggest supporter.
As an ambivert, I don’t have much friends, only three or four. But whichever I have they are seriously the best one can get. Our friendship didn’t go smooth and easy in the beginning. It took time. Whenever I got upset or felt terrible about something, I just called them up even if it is 3 a.m. in the morning. After bursting in front of them, I felt like I can deal with everything now. It’s not that much gross as I think. So my worries are just vanished and I revived. See, it’s not a rocket science just be you. You can also get your buddies’ too. But beware of negative people…… you never know when you come across one.
Find your happy place: Create your own happiness and energize your dwelling by living your passion. Passion is one thing that whoops you up from all the stresses and negativity. If you know what are you passionate about something then don’t worry go after it. If you don’t know then don’t feel bad or frustrated about it. Keep trying new things. Sometimes it doesn’t come up eventually, we have to build on it. So, don’t give up, keep pushing yourself unless you get it. Even after knowing, you can’t get the time to do or may be experience a lot of failures and obstacles. At that point doesn’t let it go. Give yourselves sometime and try to see things differently. That may definitely help you.
I do feel exhausted sometimes while doing photography, though I am passionate about it. Then I just put down my camera and appreciate the surroundings. Then again, I start with new thoughts, new angles. It works for me like magic.
Love from,
Swati xx
